The following information can help guide your decision to visit the library in-person or continue using Contactless services and digital resources

In-Person Visits to the Library

  • As part of our staged reopening, Elkton, Perryville and Chesapeake City are open to the public in a limited capacity.
  • When a branch opens for in-person visits, they will have been outfitted, rearranged, and equipped to offer in-person services in a way that is safe for the public and staff.
  • We will evaluate and continue to move toward reopening of more of our branch locations. Please note, based on local and national guidance for maintaining 6 feet social distancing, some of our branches are unable to accommodate these requirements. We will continue to work toward safe and effective models to reopen as soon and as safely as possible.

  • Masks covering the nose and mouth are to be worn at all times by everyone over the age of 5.
  • Social Distancing must be maintained.
  • Keep your visit short – 1 hour or less.
  • Building capacity will be limited.

Masks are required for everyone over the age of 5 to enter the library. If this presents an issue for you, please contact your local branch for assistance.

  • When you arrive at the library, you will be greeted by one of our staff, who can answer your questions and reorient you to the library.
  • If you have items to return, please place them in the bookdrop before you enter.
  • For everyone’s safety, we ask you to use our hand-sanitizer station when entering and leaving the building.
  • Arrangement of furniture, browsing shelves, and access to technology will look different.
  • At this time, we are unable to offer seating areas for reading and studying.
  • Use of public computers is limited to 1 hour.
  • Family groups should stay together as much as possible, and children should also maintain social distance from non-family members.
  • You can check out items at the desk, at the self-checkout, or download the “MyCheckout@CCPL” app [Android] [iOS] (available for use at in-person locations only).

Yes. Use of public computers is limited to 1 hour.

  • Yes. Printing will be available upon request at in-person locations – staff will assist you.
  • Contactless Printing is still an option as well at our 5 locations, Cecilton, Chesapeake City, Rising Sun, Elkton, and Perryville.

Yes, this will be available for in-person locations. Loan periods have extended from one week to three weeks. New books may be slower to become available than in the past.

Marina (inter-library loan) is available on a limited basis (up to 20 items), however, requests are not guaranteed to be fulfilled by other counties and may take longer than normal to arrive.

To ensure the safest environment for our community, branches open to the public will close for one hour to implement cleaning and sanitizing routines and protocols from 1-2 pm daily.

In accordance with the CDC and local Health Department guidance, all libraries are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. Libraries with in-person services will close for an hour each day from 1-2 pm for cleaning and sanitizing. Just like any public space, entering and using library facilities is a personal decision and at your own risk.

Payments and Accounts

There are no overdue fines at this time.

As part of our Covid-19 safety protocols, all returned items go from the bookdrop to quarantine for at least 4 days. They are checked out of your account after quarantine. You will not accrue any fines.

We will accept cash or credit card payments at our in-person locations. You can also pay by credit card online via your account.

Up to 10 black and white pages are free each day. If you need to print more in addition to this, fees will need to be paid by cash or credit card.

At this time, subscriptions to these high-touch materials have been temporarily suspended.
