Program Description

Event Details

When we think of the women’s suffrage movement, names like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton often come to mind. But what about the women who carried the torch for voting rights in Maryland—and right here in Cecil County? Join historian Dr. Amy Rosenkrans for an enlightening lecture that shines a spotlight on the often-overlooked Maryland suffragists, including local leaders Mary Jamar, Alice Coale Simpers, Sarah Fernandis, and Jennie Gillespie. Discover the inspiring stories of these women and how their determination and activism helped shape the fight for the vote—both locally and nationally.

This is a MD 250 program.
