Summer Reading 2021

Cecil County Public Library is pleased to announce the 2021 Summer Reading & Learning Program for children, teens, and adults.

Register for a program based on the age groups below. Then, log your reading in one of two ways: 

  1. Option 1: Printed Log- Download and print a copy of the reading log or pick up one from any branch of the Cecil County Public Library. Use the links below or visit the library to submit raffle entries earned from reading for a chance to win a prize.
  2. Option 2Online Program- Track your reading online and enter prize raffles using Beanstack or the Beanstack mobile app (Android) (iOS).

Children's summer reading and learning program

Use your log to keep track of each day that you read for at least 15 minutes this summer, and complete fun reading challenges. Participants may read on their own, or have someone read to them. For every 10 days of reading, earn a chance to win:

Teen summer reading and learning program for ages 11-17

Use your log to keep track of each day that you read for at least 30 minutes this summer, and complete fun reading challenges. For every 10 days of reading, earn a chance to win:

Adult summer reading and learning program

Challenge yourself this summer by completing these 8 reading activities! Check out the Summer Reading Challenges below for inspiration. For every reading challenge you complete, you will earn a chance to win:

  1. Books vs. Movies/TV
    Read or listen to a title which was first a book and now has been made into a movie or series. 
  2. Bound and Determined
    Discover the grit and perseverance of people or characters who are forced to go it alone in unique settings or circumstances.
  3. Imaginary Worlds
    Explore a fantastical world unlike our own.
  4. Time Warp
    Prepare for adventure as you travel through space and time. 
  5. Olympic Fever
    Follow real or imagined athletes on their quest for glory.
  6. Laugh Along
    Lighten your mood with a funny or quirky read that makes you smile.
  7. Books from the Deep
    Set yourself adrift and read a book where the ocean takes center stage. 
  8. Dog Days of Summer
    Solace, protection, inspiration; read or listen to a book about dogs who sometimes provide it all.
