FAQ

Updates to CCPL's borrowing procedures

Effective 4.12.22:

  • For your convenience, eligible items will be auto-renewed for all CCPL accounts.
  • Eligible items will automatically renew a maximum of 3 times; Interlibrary Loan (Marina) items twice.
  • Accounts with 10 or more overdue items will be unable to check out additional items.
  • Accounts with bills in the amount of $30.00 or more will be unable to check out additional items.

Effective 5.12.22:

  • Items 30 days past due will be assumed lost, and your account will be billed the cost to replace the item.
  • At that time, items will move from Check Outs to Bills within your library account.
  • Billing will be removed when the items are returned.

There are two reasons your card might be blocked:

  1. You have ten or more overdue items. Renew or return your items and your card will be unblocked.
  2. You have $30 or more in bills. While the library no longer charges overdue fines, bills are still charged for items that are considered lost (30 or more days overdue) or damaged. Return the items or pay bills to under $30 to unblock your card. Bills can be paid securely online or at any branch with cash, check, or card.

Please return the item to the library. The bill will be removed automatically.

That item may have been billed as lost. Please check the bills section of your account. If you have the item, you may be able to return it and the bill will be removed.

Please bring it to your preferred branch. Sometimes what you think is damaged, we think is normal wear-and-tear. We're happy to work with you.

You can pay online by going to your library account, or in person at any branch. We understand that sometimes accidents happen and are happy to work with you. If online payment is made prior to the returning of the materials, no refunds will be provided.

Some items are not eligible for auto-renewal:

  1. Items for which holds have been placed by patrons.
  2. Express Reads
  3. Digital items (hoopla and OverDrive/Libby)
  4. Online Computer Library Center (also known as OCLC) interlibrary loan items.

Eligible items will automatically be renewed a maximum number of three times with the exception of Interlibrary Loan items borrowed from Marina. These items can only be renewed twice.

Yes.

You can check out items from OverDrive (we recommend the Libby app!) but not from hoopla.

Yes. You are welcome to renew items via your library account or ask our staff at any branch. All users are limited to a maximum of 3 renewals.

Items only auto-renew on the date they are due. If you renew an item yourself, it will auto-renew on its new due date if it is eligible for renewal. You will not lose a renewal by renewing it yourself.

If you get email notices, we'll notify you by email of items that auto-renewed, as well as items that didn't auto-renew.

Items that are eligible for auto-renewal will renew on their due date.

Call, stop by a branch, or email circulation@cecilcountylibrary.org to add or update your email address to your library account.
